Okay, I'm in..converted 100 shares of Pixar for 100 shares of Apple in my SEP IRA.
Only have about $13k in it (half Pixar half Apple now) and will let it ride with Disney/Apple train - see what happens next two years.
Maybe both climb towards 100 billion dollar companies.

The bearish price of AAPL is tempting me to sell more PIXR and buy more AAPL. I still haven't sold a share in my retirement account. I started selling covered calls and there was a nice premium on Aug 06 $70s. Should have jumped on those. Very well may sell 2 of the April or May $65s shortly.

AAPL can't seem to keep it's steam. No matter how much good news, something always comes out to depress the price again.
Which is good for me. I've been selling covered call still. The volitility of AAPL gives a nice premium. Looking at buying another 100 shares under $60. Then I'll wait for a little pop and look at some Oct 80s.
Covered calls is an interesting and very safe options strategy for anyone interested.

Thanks, MW

I sold some of my PIXR via calls that expired after the merger. They were taken, but I got a nice premium. The DIS calls just don't sell for much. For example - the Jan 07 $40's are only .15! The $35s are .45 which isn't bad, except for the length of time. I'm contemplating selling some, but it really doesn't seem worth it.
Now the Jul $30's will get you .55, but those will surely be taken. If you don't mind taxable events or the stock is in a retirement account, you would probably be able to buy it back at $30, pocketing the .55 less the trading costs. The nice thing about non-volatility is you can buy the stock back at about the same price and sell the calls again.

OK I am in AAPL at 53.27. 100 shares on margin, hope the CSFB warning was the typical "sell" so they can get in. 4% selloff unwarranted.

There is a weird flame looking thing in a folder next to mwgrab. What is this? I think it is a karma smite symbol. Just to make sure I will test by smiting Hogs (whom leads the board in Karma) Apologies in advance. MW

Congrats AAPL holders; I got scared with the option thing and got out and back into Disney 100% in that particular fund that still owned the former Pixar shares.
Not unhappy with DIS, just disappointed AAPL didn't fall to my re-entry point...missed the 30%+ run.

Still holding both DIS and AAPL myself; I still like their long-term prospects. Hope some of you picked up FSL during its short public existence. Anyone heard if the SEC is looking at Pixar past options grants?

I saw "Pixar options" in a WSJ headline under DIS on Yahoo, but I don't have a subscription, so didn't see the article.
I jumped out of AAPL on the options revelation, then got back in once it seemed investors were ignoring it. So I missed 1/3 of the 30% runup. I also like the long term prospects for both AAPL and DIS (in that order). SPWR has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I think green stocks will gain as more people accept that global warming isn't hype. I averaged down over the Summer and I'm above water now.
Ant, I hope you did the same with ANSW. That was also a rough ride.

Hi Hogs,
I read an article about Sonsini that suggests he wasn't directly involved in backdating. It appears the closest anyone's gotten to connecting him was that options were backdated on boards were he was not part of the compensation committee. Sound familiar?
I explain this all to myself as a difference between being a legal compass and a moral compass. Sonsini may have been the former without being the latter.
I expect more from Jobs, but I'm not privy to enough information to really make a call on all this. And maybe I don't want to know more. I'd like to believe my compass is pointing in the right direction ;-)
