Pixar's One Man Band has been nominated for a 2005 Best Animated short film Academy Award. It's up against some pretty amazing competition though including 9, The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello, Badgered, and The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation.
Congrats and best of luck to both co-directors Andrew Jimenez and Mark Andrews! Read about Jimenez's discovery of the nomination at SFGate.com.
Dr. Ed Catmull is also being presented with a 2005 Technical Achievement Award. From the official Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences website: "To Ed Catmull, for the original concept, and Tony DeRose and Jos Stam for their scientific and practical implementation of subdivision surfaces as a modeling technique in motion picture production."
